Celebrating LocalOur Furniture posted by Sara Tofanelli-Barroso

We all know that it's nice to work with people you like.  And that's why we couldn't be happier with LEE Industries, our best friend in the industry for 24 years.

(Norman & Rick discussing something very important)

There are so many reasons that we love working with LEE. They have always been on the forefront of upholstery design.  They keep their designs fresh and their fabric selection can't be beat.  They are constantly working to make a clean, efficient, eco-friendly and safe environment for their staff, as well as our clients who purchase LEE product.

They are a 590 person loving family who care about each other, their craftsmanship, and their goods.

Everyone at LEE is wonderful!  Norman & Bondi Coley, Theresa, our reps; Heather, Sandy, Deborah... there's too many to list!  We get to call them almost daily and hear their wonderful southern drawls ask 'how you doing?'.

(writing orders at market)

They put on a huge party for their retailers at market twice a year serving the best southern food you can find; gumbo, hushpuppies, BBQ...

They host LEE University where our staff can go to Newton, North Carolina to see the factory, meet the craftspeople and dine in the home of the Coley's.

And when you think they couldn't care more, they go and create a marketing campaign to help promote business to the local stores, the mom and pop's, the brick and mortar's, the Nantucket Home's.

So there's really no reason not to love LEE.

It's been 24 years that we've worked with the people at LEE and we're excited to announce that as part of their LEE Loves Local campaign the owners of LEE Industries, Norman & Bondi Coley, will be traveling all the way from North Carolina (with film crew in tow) to learn about our style, our community and our love for our local artisans.

Come be in our video!
Saturday June 28th from 11 to 2pm.

Now, a bit about LEE Industries...

Bill and Dottie Coley founded LEE industries in newton, North Carolina, in 1969.  They set out to manufacture quality American-made furniture that they would use in their home. Bill's training as an architect combined with Dottie’s keen eye for colors and pattern made them a formidable team. So they opened a 7500 square foot factory, hired 10 people and accomplished exactly what they set out to do - and so very much more. In 1972, Chic Robinson joined the team as executive vice president in charge of financial, production, and administrative functions and helped propel LEE to a new level.  Now their son Norman runs the family-owned company with the same values as his parents; it's a commitment to treating employees, partners, community and the environment with respect.

In 1984, LEE made a conscious effort to be as earth-friendly as possible, long before any other furniture manufacturer.  They voluntarily chose to use products that eliminated the use of chlorofluorocarbon gases (CFC’s) which have been known to deplete the ozone layer.  That was almost unheard of in the 80’s.  Today, LEE industries is still a family-owned business that employs more than 500 craftsmen in three plans in Newton, North Carolina.  In fact, every vendor that works with lee must adhere to a code of conduct to ensure those values are present every step of the way.

(Bill McKinney)

“A family-owned and operated company, we are committed to the good of our customers, our associates, our vendors, our community, and our environment. Through diligence, foresight and perseverance, we have become a leader in upholstery manufacturing with outstanding products, superb customer service and cutting edge technology. Thanks to the craftsmanship and team spirit that is the hallmark of LEE's success; every masterpiece is built with pride in the USA.”

These are only a few of the reasons we love working with LEE, stop by our showroom on Saturday June 28th from 11-2 to meet them in person and find out more about the company!
