Robin grew up in Chico, and as with all family businesses, spent countless weekends and summers helping out at Nantucket Home: wrapping presents during the busy holiday season, cleaning the nooks and crannies in time for spring and of course working the lemonade stand at Sidewalk Sales in the heat of summer. In an attempt to move away from the extreme heat, Robin headed up to Oregon where she spent four years in Eugene at the University of Oregon. There she met her future husband, Mike, and after earning their respective degrees in Art History and Landscape Architecture, they moved back to Chico in 2005 and purchased a Chico Charmer in the heart of the Avenues.
After getting married and spending many stressful hours renovating their 1910 home, Mike was accepted into the graduate program at the University of California at Berkeley and once again Robin and Mike, along with their faithful companion and store mascot, Bailey, moved to the Bay Area.
With her extensive knowledge of the furniture industry, Robin was offered the job as Operations Manager at HD Buttercup, at the time, a yet-to-open furniture store in the SOMA neighborhood of San Francisco. There she broadened her knowledge of how a larger company with multiple locations operates and in time realized the semi-corporate life wasn’t for her. Not to mention the commuting…
Now Robin, Mike and Bailey are happy to be back to the pace of life in Chico, happy to live so close to family and Robin is thrilled to be able to bring Bailey to work again. When not at work, Robin and Mike enjoy the never-ending process of renovating their home, gardening their 2,500 square foot vegetable garden, walking downtown to enjoy all that this unique area offers, socializing with friends and planning their next travels. With a goal of traveling internationally every other year since their marriage, Mike and Robin have been to Thailand, Portugal, Spain, Italy and Canada. Robin also loves to read, dreams of adopting any and all homeless dogs and loves to better her world with environmentally-friendly practices.
